New Rubric: Educational Research – Disciplinary Approaches

Educational Researcb is not only subject and field of research of one discipline, but highly interdisciplinary. Involved are educational sciences with their different sub-disciplines, as well as psychology, educational sociology, educational economics and educational geography, furthermore poitical sciences, as far as they deal with governance of the educational system.

Each discipline, which contributes to educational research, has its own topical approaches and research questions; the methodological approaches differ as well.

With regard to the relevance of this research for education and school, the DDS starts with a new rubric "Educational Research - Disciplinary Approaches" in issue 4/2011. At irregular intervals, acknowledged experts from different fields will get a word in order to represent the disciplinary breadth of educational research. The rubric starts with a contribution about "educational psychology" by Christiane Spiel, Barbara Schober, Petra Wagner, Ralph Reimann und Dagmar Strohmeier.

Peer Review in the DDS

From the 103rd volume (2011) of the DDS, all main articles, i.e. contributions for the focus topic and for the column “Further Articles”, will be subject to a peer review.  After a preselection of the articles with regard to the orientation of the DDS by the editorial staff, the texts will be subject to a double-blind review by voluntary referees. At the end of the review procedure, which may take at least eight weeks due to the new practice, the authors will receive a notice about the acceptance of their manuscripts (when indicated with hints for further revision) or about the refusal respectively. The names of the voluntary reviewers will be published in issue 4 of the respective volume of the journal.

Contributions for the columns “Reports”, “Discussion” and “Reviews” will be surveyed by at least three members of the editorial staff.
